Urban Squash Toronto is a charitable organization that combines an intensive after-school, 7 days-a-week, yearlong education program with concentrated athletics (principally squash).  We support underserved youth in the Jane-Finch corridor to reach their full academic, athletic and personal potential.

Our goal is to ensure all of UST’s students graduate from high school and pursue a post-secondary education of their choice.  In doing so, our students grow to become healthy, civic-minded, educated adults, transforming their lives and the community in which they live.

Our Story

UST was founded in 2010 by a dynamic group of Toronto squash enthusiasts wanting to support and provide access to a sport, otherwise unavailable, to underserved youth in the Jane and Finch area.

UST first enrolled youth in 2012 from two schools in the Jane and Finch area (Brookview and Oakdale Middle schools).  The program has since grown to support over 100 students from 8 local schools, with our first class of high school seniors graduating in 2018.

UST is modelled after a highly successful U.S initiative, the Squash Education Alliance (SEA, www.squashandeducation.org). SEA started in the mid 1990s and has now grown to 20 U.S and 5 international sister charities, UST being the only Canadian chapter. In 2024, SEA charities have over 2,500 students participating in their urban squash programs with an impressive 94% earning post-secondary degrees.
